Volvo aims for half of our sales from 2025 to come from fully electric cars

Volvo XC40 plug-in hybrid
Today, Volvo Cars announces our aim to have fully electric cars making up to 50 per cent of our sales by 2025. this builds on our 2017 announcement that every new model released from 2019 will be available as either a plug-in hybrid, a mild-hybrid or a fully-electric powered car. An incremental transition away from internal combustion engines is critical if we are to achieve our goal of electric cars making up 50 per cent of our total sales by 2025. During the transition, our engine offers will continue to reflect a balance between our company ambitions, emerging technologies, consumer demand, market trends, our sustainability values and global regulations.

We firmly believe that electric cars are our long-term future.

Our first fully-electric car will be presented in 2019, and all new Volvo cars from 2019 will have an electric motor in either a plug-in hybrid, mild-hybrid or fully-electric configuration.
In 2017, we became the first global car company to commit to electrification, a landmark industry-first pledge that was recognised by the United Nations in the UN's 2017 Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative.
