Håkan Samuelsson is World Car Person of the Year
Håkan Samuelsson was named the 2018 World Car Person of the Year by the World Car of the Year jury. The award was presented today at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. World Car is independently ranked as the number one global automotive awards programme.
“I see this award as acknowledgement of the efforts made by the entire Volvo Cars organisation in recent years,” said Håkan, underlining that this success is one shared by everyone at Volvo Cars.
Håkan has some catching up to do if he’s to win as many awards as the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) cars – which headline the many achievements of Volvo Cars under Håkan’s stewardship – but he has made a good start. This World Car Person of the Year adds to other recognition including the prestigious 2017 Golden Steering Wheel award from German publishing house Springer; and Håkan was named Disruptor of the Year at the 2018 Roadshow awards by CNET.
Håkan’s individual recognition, along with the unprecedented run of awards for our new cars, all contribute to what’s becoming one of the most storied periods in Volvo Cars history.
